Baby
A baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three years and in your heart till the day you die.

Pregnancy Yoga Classes

These classes are open to all pregnant 'Mums' after their 14th week of pregnancy. They will not only help prepare your body for its journey towards labour, but are a fun way of meeting other mums in your area. Although we will cover breathing techniques and positions which can be helpful during labour, these classes will focus on helping you relax and enjoy moving your body during this incredible time.

Here are some of the reasons why yoga can be beneficial during pregnancy:-

  • Increased flexibility, releasing stiffness and tension.
  • Lymphatic drainage is improved, reducing swollen joints and swelling caused by oedema (fluid retention).
  • Encourage your baby into an optimal position for birth.
  • Increased mobility in hips and pelvis which can lead to an easier birth.
  • Development of strong pelvic floor muscles, not just for use in labour but to aid recovery after birth.
  • Regular practice of breathing techniques can greatly assist the process of labour and make contractions more manageable.
  • A supportive environment can act as an anchor during the emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy.

As a Mum myself I can testify to the benefits of practicing, and teaching, yoga throughout my pregnancy and up to a week before my beautiful daughter was born. The specific breathing techniques I learnt were to prove invaluable for me, particularly in first stage labour. The support of the friends I made during my pregnancy yoga classes still continues today, 4 years on.
